Our Charity Scheme

Our Charity Scheme

At Eight Engines, we believe video is at its most powerful when it’s used to make a genuine difference.

Every six months, alongside our commercial work, we commit to producing one film pro bono for a charity doing meaningful, often under-recognised work.

We cover the full production process: concept, production and delivery, and donate our time and expertise to help an organisation tell its story in a way that reaches further and resonates deeper. The only thing you'll need to pay for is expenses.

Why We Do It

Charities are often doing extraordinary things with limited resources. Video can be transformational for awareness, fundraising and engagement, but it’s also time-consuming and costly to produce well.

We see our annual pro bono film as a way of putting our skills to work where they can have real impact. It’s not about charity as a box-ticking exercise; it’s about long-term belief in storytelling as a force for good.

Every six months, we invite charities to submit proposals outlining their mission, the story they want to tell, and how a film could help them move forward. From those submissions, we select one organisation whose work aligns strongly with our values and where video can genuinely make a difference.

Our Latest Pro Bono Film: Speed of Sight

Our most recent free film was created for Speed of Sight, a remarkable charity that empowers differently-abled people through track driving experiences.

Speed of Sight gives blind and disabled participants the chance to drive high-performance cars on race circuits, supported by professional instructors. It’s about far more than driving; it’s about confidence, independence, and redefining what’s possible.

From the outset, we knew this was a story that needed to be felt as much as explained. Our focus was on capturing the emotion, trust and exhilaration of the experience, while letting the participants and organisers speak for themselves.

The resulting film is designed to help Speed of Sight raise awareness, attract support, and show the impact of their work.

What the Process Looks Like

For the chosen charity, the process is exactly the same as with our commercial clients:

  • Collaborative development of the story and objectives
  • A professional production crew and considered approach to filming
  • Thoughtful editing focused on clarity, emotion and impact
  • A finished film that can be used across websites, social media, events and fundraising campaigns

Applying for a Future Film

We open submissions periodically and review every application carefully. We’re particularly interested in charities with:

  • A clear mission and real-world impact
  • A story that benefits from visual storytelling
  • A practical use for the finished film

While we can only select a couple of organisations each year, we genuinely value the process of learning about the work being done across the charitable sector.

If your organisation could benefit from a professionally produced film and you believe your story deserves a wider audience, we’d love to hear from you here.
