The Challenge
The UK solar industry has a trust problem.
For years, it’s been populated by cowboys and questionable operators. Project Solar are not that. But when scepticism already exists, saying you’re legitimate isn’t enough. You have to demonstrate it.
They were launching a rebranded solar panel offering and needed to reposition themselves as the credible, authoritative, long-term player in the market.
And they needed to do it fast.
After being let down by another provider, we stepped in late, with roughly a month to concept, produce and deliver a full campaign before Christmas.
Sixteen videos.
Fifty stills.
One shoot day.
It had to feel world-class.
As their Marketing Manager later said:
“Eight Engines delivered exceptionally high-quality content while working to tight timelines, without ever compromising on detail or professionalism.”
The Plan
We started with trust. Kevin brought a lot of that naturally but we had to make sure it felt world class.
We wrote the script carefully in Kevin’s tone of voice, intelligent, grounded, calm. Every line reinforcing legitimacy and long-term thinking.
Then came the logistics.
Two full teams operating simultaneously:
- Cinematic video production
- High-end lifestyle and product photography
We prelit the location the day before to maximise efficiency. Which meant on shoot day, everything ran like clockwork.
Sixteen video assets.
Fifty stills.
Captured in a single day.
The hero film was edited and graded in just nine days.
Throughout it all, Project Solar experienced none of the chaos behind the scenes.
In their words:
“They were calm, organised, and solutions-focused throughout, which made a complex project feel straightforward.”
That’s what full-service actually means. Not just production. Peace of mind.
The Results
The impact was immediate.
In the first week of organic launch alone:
- 8.6% overall engagement rate
- 11.26% CTR on LinkedIn — well above organic video benchmarks
- 19.5% engagement rate on Facebook
But beyond metrics, something more powerful happened.
The campaign shifted perception.
The combination of Kevin McCloud and cinematic production instantly elevated Project Solar’s positioning. It signalled professionalism. Stability. Credibility.
As the client put it:
“Their understanding of brand, audience, and objectives really stood out, and the final results exceeded expectations.”
And perhaps the strongest endorsement of all:
“Eight Engines ran the project smoothly from start to finish. The team were proactive, responsive, and well-prepared throughout.”
Five stars across quality, schedule, cost and delivery.
Delivered on time.
Within the agreed budget.
Under serious time pressure.
Why This Matters
This wasn’t just a brand film.
It was a reputation reset.
A high-stakes launch delivered under pressure.
A full-scale content ecosystem captured in one day.
A trust-building exercise for an entire industry.
And proof that when things feel complicated, we make them simple.
